The St Ives swimming club is coached by
Robert Hamilton. The Club’s top swimmers in
2000 were (left to right) Kevin Barter, Amanda
Kellet and Steve Mavin.
Majid, who lives in St Ives, has been boxing for
8 years. Nicknamed ‘the pocket rocket’ by his
coach, Mick Taylor, he was only 15 at the time
this picture was taken in 1999 but already had
30 contests under his belt. During the
Millennium season Majid contested the
Schoolboy ABA championship where he
reached the quarter-finals, losing to the
ultimate winner. He also reached the final of
the National Association of Young People’s
Clubs.
