Despite his youthful looks John is one of our
longest serving and most experienced Town
Councillors. Elected in 1987 he was welcomed onto
the Council by his mother, who was Mayor at the
time.
John moved to the St Ives area when his father
was posted to RAF Wyton, and the family stayed on
when Mr Vickery senior retired from the air force.
He has been working for D Pitts, the architects, on
The Waits for 19 years.
When elected Mayor in 1991 he was one of the
youngest mayors in the country and the first pupil
of St Ivo School to become Mayor of St Ives. That
same year he married Clare.
John also serves as a governor of Wheatfields
Infant and Junior School and represents the council
on the Road Safety committee and the United
Charities.
