John Hancox and Colin Naughten moved their
reprographics business, CL Enterprises, from
Fenstanton to St Ives in 1982, establishing the
company on its present site in Burrel Road in 1986.
Five years later a merger with John and Sandra
Souter’s graphic design business, JMS Design,
allowed the new CLE to invest in state-of-the-art
printing equipment, becoming one of the country’s
leading design and digital print companies.
The picture shows John Hancox, Colin Naughten
and John Souter with one of the Indigo digital
printing presses.
John Souter (right) is perhaps better known to
St Ivians as a committed Town Councillor involved
in many town organisations and as chairman of the
Huntingdon Liberal Democrats.
Born locally, John and his wife Sandra met and
married whilst studying Graphic Design at Leeds
Art College. They brought up their three children
whilst living in the centre of St Ives for over 22
years, and moved to the nearby village of
Woodwalton just before the Millennium.
