Foreword
By Jonathan Djanogly
Member of Parliament for Huntingdon
I am very pleased to have the opportunity to recommend this picture portrait of St Ives
and its people.
When speaking about St Ives the most common remark made to me is how the town actually
works so well. St Ives has retained a remarkable balance of the historic quaintness of a Great
Ouse village yet, at the same time, manages to support a vibrant community that provides a
modern and efficient life for its townsfolk. The scale and atmosphere of St Ives both respects
its history and holds an intimacy that many towns of a similar size have long since lost.
These special features are certainly to be treasured.
I believe that this project of the people of St Ives captures the essence of the town and shall
provide an excellent and lasting image of local life at the turn of the Millennium.
I congratulate everyone involved in the production of this unique record.
