St Ives-a new millennium4/10/023:48 pmPage 45SIMADS Photos: Stuart Littlewood/Pentax MXCharles Cannon started the St Ives Music & Drama Society (SIMADS) in 1935 with musicals in the Corn Exchange. Affiliated to NODA(National Operatic and Dramatic Association), it is one of 200 societies in the Eastern area. SIMADS puts on two productions a year inthe Burgess Hall and visits community centres and old people’s homes with cabarets and old-tyme music halls. They also haveextensive costume hire facilities and run their own website, www.simads.co.uk.
