SRT studio
Sound Recording Technology Ltd (SRT) has been associated with the music industry since 1967.
Founded in London by producer David Richardson and members of the rock band Jethro Tull the
business moved to Edison Road, St Ives in 1980. While still a recording studio the company is also well
established in post-production, editing, high-end audio and image mastering, and CD pre-master
preparation. The business is now run by David’s daughters, Sarah Pownall and Karen Kenney.

Dave, bass guitarist with the group Fairport Convention, and SRT’s chief studio engineer Nick check
tracks for the group’s newest 2001 release, a set of four CDs entitled The Other Boot and the Third Leg.
The 32 tracks include favourites like Matty Groves and Who Knows Where the Time Goes? The original
recordings were made at the Cropredy Festivals of 1986 and 1987 but the master tapes were lost. SRT
had to ‘re-master’ the performances from cassettes, using the latest technology to clean up and
enhance the sound.

The veteran bandleader and his Jazzmen recorded their
new CD album entitled Now 4 the Millennium at SRT’s
studios in St Ives, and Kenny is seen here in full flow with a
trumpet solo.
