During these past few years, our business
community has battled through a never-ending
storm of pressures. Post pandemic recovery was
slowed by a spike in energy costs, accompanied
by eye-watering double-digit in昀氀ation.
Inevitable interest rate rises have only added
fuel to the 昀椀re, all against the backdrop of a
war in Ukraine and further con昀氀ict in the Middle
East. Business resilience has been challenged
like never before and the actual cost of doing
business has never been higher.
We will continue to call for a supportive tax and
legislative environment to promote tax fairness.
This will include simpli昀椀cation of the R&D tax
credits system and reform of the business rates
system, which will better re昀氀ect business ability to
pay and create a level playing 昀椀eld.
