INTRODUCTION
Welcome to our Year One Review, celebrating our orst year as Screen Alliance North,
a BFI Skills Cluster created by Liverpool Film Oïce, North East Screen, Screen
Manchester and Screen Yorkshire. In April 2023, the four agencies came together
to form a lead skills body for the north of England, to tackle skills shortages and
improve access to quality training provision for diverse talent and communities.
With the support of the BFI, awarding
National Lottery funding, this review
comes at the end of the orst year of
an initial three-year programme as we
work together across the region to build
a stronger, happier and more inclusive
skilled workforce. This review showcases
the highlights of our orst year and the
impact of our work, which is already
turning heads in the industry.
We are extremely proud to be providing a
great example of how a strong partnership
can work together across the region,
having a greater impact and innuence
because we work together, yet maintaining
our local knowledge, contacts and
specialisms as individual oïces.
At the same time, working collaboratively
has enabled us to raise our voice at the
national level as we develop new networks
and forge new links with national partners
and organisations.
In this orst year, it has already become
clear how readily the industry has taken to
the idea of the alliance, with strong backing
from partners, including those who have
joined our industry advisory group.
As we look back at our orst year and look
forward to the next, we are proud of the
strong and concerted eforts across the
alliance to improve the diversity of our
entrants. Our four very diferent regions
have diferent challenges. However our
local knowledge in each region and our
shared experiences and resources across
the alliance, means that we can work
directly and efectively both with and for
the communities on our oïces9 individual
doorsteps.
Ultimately, as the orst impact of our work
is beginning to be felt, we are conodent
that Screen Alliance North is providing
greater resources for local crew across
the north of England and is supporting all
stages of their careers.
