OBJECTIVE 3 - SUPPORTING DIVERSE CREW TO PROGRESS WITHIN
A MORE INCLUSIVE AND RESPONSIBLE WORKPLACE CULTURE
Connected Leaders focuses on developing attitudes to change,
to proactively encourage best practice in screen production
for people and the planet. This is promoted across our screen
industries and backed with accessible training for crew.
HOW IT WORKS
"
Sign up to a working practices charter
"
Afordable training ofered to heads of department
and crew to be catalysts for change in the workplace
"
Engagement with industry champions to help spread
the message
The Connected Leaders programme is coordinated across all
four partners of Screen Alliance North. The initial phase of this
programme is to understand what is already happening within the
industry when it comes to encouraging best practice in screen
production, developing relationships with those already doing the
work, and understanding how Screen Alliance North can mirror
existing programmes to extend their reach.
HIGHLIGHTS
Our orst year9s focus has been on building
successful partnerships and trialling
activity that enables us to promote change.
Strong relationships have been created
with the Film + TV Charity, Pact, Bectu and
Coalition for Change, enabling us to work
closely on implementing good working
practice and support for freelancers.
Our work with environmentally focused
organisations, such as BAFTA albert,
Sunbelt Rentals and Julie9s Bicycle, sees
us as a collective, implementing carbon
footprint calculation across the alliance,
and driving a more environmentally friendly
approach to production in the north.
We are also currently awaiting the outcome
of the BFI9s Good Work Review tender, so
that we can ensure all of our future activity
complements this.
Other highlights from Connected Leaders
during our orst year include Liverpool Film
Oïce providing support for the inaugural
Northern TV and Film Gala Dinner, an event
to raise awareness of mental health in the
industry and raise funds for the Film + TV
Charity.
Also during our orst year, Screen
Manchester hosted the Screen Manchester
Sustainability Roadshow.
