RWS CAMPUS: THE PATH TO A GREAT
FUTURE IN LOCALISATION
As a global leader in an ever-evolving localisation
industry, we have built and developed a programme
to partner with the academic world in order to grow
and nurture future localisation talent. What started
many years ago as separately managed university
collaborations has been developed to become RWS
Campus; a pioneering, globalised, strategic programme
with a clear mission: We aim to inspire great futures
in localisation and to be recognised in our industry for
developing localisation talent and markets worldwide.
700+
university partners
worldwide, across
76 countries
190+
interns across
26 countries
RWS Campus was launched formally in 2018, bringing
together existing initiatives, harmonising and
consolidating, to develop one global programme.
In 2021, the existing Trados technology university
programme joined forces with RWS Campus, to enhance
the programme further with free-of-charge Trados
technology for partner universities.
Over the years, we have progressed our ambition to be a
future talent incubator, to help bridge the gap between
the academic world and industry, as well as to bring
the benefits of translation technology to universities
and students. We have built a global footprint in the
academic world across markets. We are delighted to
offer our professional expertise to universities, lecturers
and students in line with their local requirements and
expectations.
One key aspect of RWS Campus is our internship programmes, through which we provide professional
training and experience to help students and graduates develop key skills in a range of areas. We run
internships across various localisation roles including translation, project management, rich media
and technical services. In FY22 we provided more than 100,000+ hours of intern learning. We strive to
support interns in their future professional plans and are pleased that many join RWS and develop their
careers further with us.
Ellie Siriwardena
Senior Translator, RWS, Sheffield, UK
During the six-month internship, I gained a real insight into the translation industry as
a whole, acquiring a multitude of skills – many of which I'd never encountered before
– from post-editing, translating and reviewing to subtitling, transcribing and
more. Thanks to the invaluable support and continuous constructive feedback
from my wonderful colleagues and line managers, I was gradually able
to hone my linguistic expertise and build up my confidence using CAT
tools, and was even encouraged to pick up Italian again, which I'd
dabbled in during my undergraduate studies.
