Step Two: Create
Creating notes, or note-taking, is an essential study skill. The act of taking/
creating notes helps your brain to encode and retain the material you are
studying. The volume of notes you create will depend on the number of
subjects, and topics within subjects, as well as the depth of content in each.
As a rough guide, if you have 28 days to create notes for seven subjects,
then you will have four days per subject. However, some subjects may
require more notes than others. You can adjust the balance of days per notes
according to your own needs. Remember we recommend a total of 40% of
your revision time for creating notes.

Using the Biology Syllabus Map (Biochemistry, Genetics and Evolutionary
Trends) from the previous page, we can see that the unit is broken into eight
topics. In our example, note creation begins with topic one - Respiration which is comprised of eight sub-topics.
