OF THE PAST.
Anne Rosemary Chamney

Mechanical Engineer specialising in
medical equipment
She is best known for her invention of a novel oxygen tent which was
much cheaper than existing tents, it was also lighter and therefore

and techniques for inspiratory gases for patients who are ventilating.
She became a senior technician at University College Hospital

that Chamney was one of the 昀椀rst Clinical Engineers in the NHS.
Chamney was awarded the 昀椀rst James Clayton Prize in Medical
Engineering from the Institution of Mechanical Engineers.
Chamney was also a member of the Women’s Engineering Society.
