KYRGYZSTAN - Lake Issyk-Kul, a
massive mountain lake with magnificent
scenery. Travelling south, we make our
way to the isolated and breathtaking Lake
Song Kol, where we stay in traditional felt
yurts. Opportunity to either hike or horse
ride and explore the surrounding area. If
we are lucky we may see a game of Ulak
Tartysh - a Kyrgyz version of polo.
Drive south through the mountains
towards the border of China. We cross
vast high plains where Kyrgyz nomads
still live in their traditional yurts. We
stop off at Tash Rabat, an ancient
Caravanserai on the old Silk Route, before
turning west towards Osh, finding scenic
camping spots en route.

Days 6 to 11
Osh - Kyrgyzstan’s oldest city and home
to a 2000 year old Bazaar. TAJIKISTAN
- we begin our journey on the Pamir
Highway! Travelling south we start to see
snow capped peaks of the mountains in
Pamirsky National Park. We pass through
incredible landscapes with colours
changing as the sun moves, wild camping
in remote spots as we go.
Days 12 to 18
Khorog - a great place to people watch
and drink coffee. Optional excursions
include Kuh-i-Lal Mine and the
Afghan cross border market (day
dependent). Continue along a windy,
narrow yet spectacular stretch of road,
within touching distance of bordering
Afghanistan. Dushanbe comes as a
culture shock with it’s wide paved roads,
gleaming statues and flag poles - quite
a change!
