Michele Chiamenti,
Underwriting
I joined NRI from Brit Insurance
in February 2024. I received
a very warm welcome and
was immediately struck by the
friendliness and professionalism
of the business. I was brought
in as Underwriting Manager,
and so far I’ve been immersing
myself in the NRI underwriting
process, looking at all the
different aspects of pricing, risk
assessment and stakeholder
engagement.
I’ve been underwriting for the
last 20 years, but my original
quali昀椀cations were in electrical
engineering and computer
science. So, I understand both
worlds, and I’ll be helping
to consolidate the symbiosis
between NRI’s technical and
underwriting expertise, looking
to integrate the two into a single
and powerful proposition. It’s an
incredibly valuable competitive
In my previous role at Brit
Insurance, I was involved in
nuclear and space. And by
space I mean ‘outer space’,
which is de昀椀ned by anything
beyond 100 kilometres above
sea level. So these were two
very niche and large-scale asset
classes. It was during this time
that I 昀椀rst came across NRI,
and I was always impressed
by their methods. Now that
I’m here, I see how the teams
combine a rigorous, datadriven approach with a human
touch, which is essential when
managing such a speci昀椀c class
of insurance and interacting
with so many stakeholders.
