Safety and network
reliability
During RP7 we believe that our asset
programme should:
To manage network reliability and
ensure network equipment remains safe
and effective, we periodically replace
assets according to their condition. In
addition, we identify safety issues and
prevent faults through routine inspection
and maintenance.
•Maintain network performance by
continuing with programmes to
replace and refurbish assets in poor
condition whilst considering the
impact of overall network resilience;
•
optimise asset lives; and
•maximise opportunities to deliver
efficiencies within our business.
In order to achieve these objectives our
proposed RP7 asset replacement plan
is based on the below 4 step approach.
•adhere to relevant safety, legislative
and environmental requirements;

Data based plan
We have used condition
information, including
data obtained during our
inspections and maintenance
cycles, to inform our plan.

Increased
monitoring
Where we don’t have
condition information, we will
use the RP7 period to obtain
this via increased monitoring
of our network.
Comprehensive
optioneering
We have explored all
viable alternatives to asset
replacement to ensure our
plan achieves the required
level of network reliability at
lowest cost.
Touch the
network once
Where asset replacement
is required, we will aim to
touch the network once,
ensuring that the asset
is appropriately sized to
accomodate load growth out
to 2050.
