WHOLE BOOKLET 2024 25 DG FINAL - Flipbook - Page 11
Myland English Hub are delighted to offer a sustained, FREE CPD programme aimed at
primary English Leads and senior leadership. This opportunity is open to schools where
Phonics practice is strong and the focus can shift to wider reading for pleasure culture.
Participants will become confident in reading for pleasure (RfP) pedagogy as well as
leadership theory, in order to transform their school’s reading culture.
Participants will develop their subject knowledge, building a bank of current and appropriate
authors and text suggestions for their schools. This is a year long programme, consisting of five
sessions and gap tasks to be completed in participants’ schools.
Those who commit are expected to attend all sessions, to be held remotely with the final
session at Myland Primary School; schools will receive an attendance payment upon
completion of all five sessions.
The aims of this fantastic opportunity include:
Understanding the research that underpins Reading for
Pleasure practice and pedagogy
Widening knowledge of children’s literature
Transforming whole school reading culture
Developing the leadership skills to initiate and sustain
change in your school
