WHOLE BOOKLET 2024 25 DG FINAL - Flipbook - Page 10
Learning to read matters for every child or young person.
This DfE funded programme explores the appropriate teaching, support,
and provision for the lowest-attaining children in reading, with a
particular focus on those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities
(SEND).
This programme has been developed by drawing on expert advice from
disability charities, leading academics, the EEF, validated SSPs, school
leaders, Ofsted, the reading framework and the SEND code of
practice.
This programme is suitable for up to three delegates from each school and
will be of particular use to SENDCOs and Reading Leads.
Participants will be expected to attend all sessions, due to the
ongoing nature of the CPD. Schools will receive an attendance payment
on completion of all five sessions.
Delivered over five half-day remote sessions, the programme will:
•
Help delegates identify the causes of current gaps in attainment for pupils with SEND and their underperforming peers
•
Offer practical guidance on how to use validated SSPs programmes successfully
•
Help to improve the reading of the slowest progress children
