4 to 15 June 2023Day 3La Rochelle to Cognac (244.7km)7 June 2023Photos: gerardbrown.co.ukRiding the cobbles, Phillip and Lynda Blunden, 1974 MGB GT...Smooth running, Simon and Jack Brien, 1952 Jaguar C-TypeA much shorter day today but one with a littlemore packed into it and, at the end of it all, thepromise of a very decent post prandial snifter. The first job was to get the cars out of the car park where, quite appropriately for our location, they’d expertly beenpacked by Jim Smith like sardines in a can. Some spilledover into the courtyard providing a talking point for theother guests. Once untangled it was a relaxed 9am start andan easy 41km of minor roads to the first Section aroundSaint Mard. Here the crews zig-zagged their way through9km of the most singular of single carriage roads.Another sequence of interesting roads took the carssouth west to Rochefort and across the marais to a PassageControl in Brouage. Time had been allowed for the crews toenjoy a coffee and take a walk within the walls of the 16thcentury citadel once famed for its export of black salt. Thewww.rallytheglobe.com
