Meet the team
Our team of experienced support crew continues to grow. Here are
a few more members of our valued rally family who work with us
on our events.
Dick Appleton
Chris Brown
Dick Appleton
New Chief Operating Officer, Mark,
started his obsession with rallying
thanks to his father, Dick Appleton,
whom many of you will also know. Dick
has been an invaluable member of our
Rally the Globe team for our events to
date, working alongside Paul Heal to
carry out the incredibly important role
of the Advance Car.
Dick has been rallying since 1971
when he started to drive on road rallies
with his 1965 Morris Cooper S, which
had a full rebuild in 1990 for historic
road rallying.
With son Mark as principle navigator
they enjoyed great success, and
when Dick retired from his work as
a Civil Engineer in 2008 he started to
specialise in navigating course cars on
longer rallies for Historic & Vintage
cars. He now spends much of his time
navigating, route checking and reporting
in the advance cars on major events and
finds the ‘adventure’ exciting and the
contribution to making a rally ‘perfect’
for the competitors most satisfying.
Chris Brown
Chris is the owner of Sharp Films, who
produce all our rally video footage.
Chris is a born and bred Devonian
and studied in Falmouth, Cornwall. He
has a real passion for film, an eye for
action, and a talent for capturing the
detail and skills in the edit suite that
really make his films stand out.
As a self-confessed lifelong petrolhead,
Ryan Hallett
Chris describes himself as being ‘lucky
enough to combine my biggest passions
- film making and cars’. In his spare time,
you’ll find him in the sea, or in a barn
‘trying to restore my Golf Mk2 without
setting fire to anything’.
When on a rally, Chris is the one usually
hiding in a bush getting shots of all the
crews, preferably without them knowing,
or holed up in his hotel room cutting film
footage until the early hours. This means
he doesn’t always get to enjoy as much of
the social aspects of an event as the rest
of the team, despite being its youngest
member.
Ryan Hallett
Ryan is a Freelance Videographer and
Photographer, specialising in Motorsport
and Adventure sports. For the last 10
years, he has been working as a freelance
creative documenting all types of
wheeled sports and events, including car
rallying, mountain biking, road cycling,
FMX & BMX.
Ryan works closely with his brand
clients to showcase their brand identity
in the videos that he creates. Companies
he has worked for include: Red Bull,
Nike, GT bicycles, Verde Bikes, Animal
Clothing and many more.
Ryan works with Chris from Sharp
Films on many different projects, but
most importantly for Rally the Globe.
On a rally, Ryan acts as a Second Camera
Operative, Assistant and Driver, as well
as keeping Chris fuelled with food for
late night footage cutting.
