NEW APPOINTMENT
STRENGTHENS RALLY THE GLOBE TEAM
You may have already heard the fantastic news that one of the most
respected names in the field of international endurance rallies has
joined our core team here at Rally the Globe HQ.
Mark Appleton
“Rally the Globe are
starting to address the
challenges of endurance
rallying in a world of
social distancing...”
We are delighted that Mark Appleton has come on board as our Chief Operating
Officer, overseeing the day-to-day running of the club and ensuring the delivery
of our high-quality and competitive – yet always friendly – rallies. Mark will also
perform Clerk of the Course duties on events, ensuring fair play both on the road
and in the bar.
Mark will be well-known to many of you and is both an exceptional organiser
of classics rallies and a successful navigator, with numerous trophies in his name.
Needless to say, he has been very busy since his arrival just a few weeks ago,
working closely with Fred to develop our new rally calendar.
“These are challenging times to be organising events that, at their very core, are
based on the enjoyment of sociable travel between different countries, regions and
cities”, Mark disclosed to the Gazette.
“My first weeks in this exciting new role have been very different to how anyone
could have predicted, but I believe that we have to look forward and search out any
realistic opportunities to restart exploring the world in the way that we all love.
Now that we’ve settled on a realistic progression of events for the next few years,
the enthusiastic team at Rally the Globe are starting to address the challenges of
endurance rallying in a world of social distancing, which may call for a bit of fresh
thinking and innovative solutions. I certainly can’t wait to get back on the road to
organise the next adventure, and I hope that as many of our members that wish to
are able to join us.”
We would like to formally welcome Mark on board, and we look forward to you
all seeing him on all our rallies in future.
