As with the last four Cloverleafs, the organisers were
delighted with the way the event had run. Over his slow
roasted lamb and lemon posset route designer and Clerk
of the Course, Mark Appleton, reflected on the last few
days “we struck gold with Hotel Endsleigh which gave us
an amazing base to explore the more remote parts of this
beautiful corner of England.”
“It’s been great to see the Crews having so much fun on
and off the road and we’re looking forward to more of the
same when we find some space in the calendar!”
Rally Director, Fred Gallagher, was absent from the lunch,
as he’s now on his way to the USA to complete the recce
for next year’s Alaska to Mexico Marathon. Just before he
fastened his seat belt and read the safety card in the pocket
in front of him, he managed to send his congratulations to
all of the crews after what has “clearly been another great
event, run in just the right spirit of friendly competition.”
“Thanks also to all of the organising team and the
dozens of local marshals who turned out to make this West
Country Cloverleaf such a success”.
