I have quite a few, but if I were to pick just
one it would be being an intrinsic part of
and winning Global Event Agency of the
Year two years in a row, alongside my
amazing team and colleagues.
before he, along with my mother,
launched their own clothing business in
their garage which grew into a thriving
factory in Slough where they employed
around 50 people. When I came to launch
my own business, I was understandably
nervous, but my dad's happy-go-lucky
attitude and unwavering support spurred
me on and really contributed towards my
business's success.
Liz Quinton
Senior Director, Global Events
& Meetings, CWT Meetings & Events
Liz was offered a job in a small travel and
events agency after leaving school and
never looked back. Throughout her career,
she has primarily worked for event
agencies, both large and small, but also
dipped her toe into hotel sales and DMC
work.
“For the past 16 years, I have strategically
managed large operational delivery
teams and business objectives at a senior
director level. I moved to CWT M&E in 2013
at an exciting time of growth, to head up
the UK & Ireland operations. After several
promotions, I now manage an incredible
team of over 300 staff in 30 countries who
look after our clients live and virtual events
and meetings.”
Most memorable moment:
As an experienced leader and someone
who carefully considers how their actions
influence others, I feel that I have earned
respect from my peers and colleagues
because of how I respond in all situations.
Getting feedback (good and bad!) from
leaders, peers and colleagues over the
years has really helped me in my career
and enabled me to push myself harder to
progress as much as I have. In recent
years, we have seen many great female
leaders promoted to board positions or
start up their own agencies. Knowing that
there is no glass ceiling in this industry, I
hope this provides inspiration for all
females who are working their way up.
Biggest challenge:
Having worked through both 9/11 and most
recently the Covid pandemic, both were
hugely challenging but in different ways
and at different times of my career. During
the pandemic, being part of a big global
company, the subsequent support
network was invaluable. I am so proud of
my teams who rose to the challenge of
having to learn new skills, pivoting quickly
into a virtual world which enabled us to
keep our business moving forward.
Proudest professional achievement:
Angelee Rathor
Managing Director, SevenEvents
Kate Roberts
Managing Director, Lime Blue
Solutions
Angelee launched SevenEvents in 2009 on
the back of a business marketing degree,
after being inspired by her family's
business background and the desire to
have a better work-life balance with a
young family. “Since then, I've used my
experience in marketing to help develop
strategies for global companies, seeing
the business go from strength to strength,
planning and executing live and digital
event experiences across a number of
sectors, from finance to cutting-edge
technology. When life slowed down during
the pandemic, I decided to launch my
own travel company, SevenTravel.”
After finishing university, Kate started
working at The Compleat Angler as a
conference coordinator, which is where
she first met Lime Blue Solutions Founder
Nicola Miller. After several other roles at
hotels and venues including Cliveden and
Moor Hall, she was made redundant in
2007. “I really didn’t know what I wanted to
do. Nicola and I had kept in contact, and I
knew she had started her own agency, so I
asked if there were any admin roles I
could do over the summer whilst I
searched for a job. I am still here 15 years
later.”
Most memorable moment:
I haven't got a single standout moment as
such but beginning as a young female
leader with an Asian background I'm very
proud of diversifying the corporate events
world and making it more of an inclusive
environment. Seeing my business grow
from strength to strength has been a
huge privilege.
The pandemic has been one of the
biggest challenges I have ever had to
overcome in my career – not knowing
how things would turn out for us and
having to completely change our service
model and move into a virtual and
production world. But with an amazing
team we rose to the challenge with the
belief that we could do it.
Proudest professional achievement:
Proudest professional achievement:
I was elected to the board of EVCOM, the
membership association representing the
British events industry, in 2019 and to be
recognised by my peers in this manner
was a special moment. It allowed me to
mix with other like-minded entrepreneurs
from the corporate film and TV scene,
which has helped me widen my network
and pick up new insights.
Person who most inspired me:
My dad. He arrived from India in the UK in
1968 and, because of the regulations at
the time, was only allowed to bring three
pounds with him. Undeterred, he began
working for the car manufacturer Ford
Biggest challenge:
One achievement that stands out for me
is in 2012, when I managed my first event
in Dubai for 1,000 people – the first time I
led such a large project. My proudest
moment though is when Nicola asked me
to be managing director, I think I went into
shock to start with. I was honoured.
People who most inspired me:
I would have to say my father for this work
ethic, Nicola Miller for her drive and
determination, and Clive Miller for his
encouragement and for keeping me sane.
Someone outside of my world who has
inspired me is British racing driver Suzie
Wolff.
