How to Ignite Transformation
The company curates expeditions on uninhabited tropical
desert islands for solo travellers, private groups, both
corporate or just groups of friends, aimed at encouraging
self-growth and resilience.
Southan joined an Abundance Summit on Aerial BVI, a
five-day retreat including healthy and nutritious food,
activities such as beach Olympics and morning hikes, all in
a stunning seing. But she says it was the “intellectual
programming” on top of all the wellness experiences that
made it special. “There were experts talking about how to
play the stock market and make money out of real estate,
but also more avant-garde ideas about identifying your
limiting beliefs and turning them into limitless beliefs and
helping you learn how to accumulate amazing wealth, then
use it as a force for good in the world by identifying your
purpose.
Another island example, which Southan herself got to
experience, is Aerial BVI – an all-inclusive private island
destination owned by self-made millionaire Britnie Turner,
which aims to create an “authentic, transformative
experience for its guests” by “delivering a new
never-before-seen kind of luxury - Purpose Luxury."
“At times it was challenging for me because I'm an atheist
and there was quite a strong religious component. At every
meal we would pray, and that was out of my comfort zone,
but that's the point of transformation. You can never make
progress & evolve unless you get out of your comfort zone
to some degree.”
So, what elevates a luxury trip into a transformative
experience? Southan says that unfamiliarity, the unexpected
and geing out of your comfort zone are key factors to
transformation. She shared several examples of companies
that are creating transformative travel experiences,
including Desert Island Survival, set up by Tom Williams,
winner of the TV survival series Alone UK season 1.
