Case Study: Supported Internship
Supported Internships are a great opportunity to improve the life chances of young
people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities by supporting them into
sustained, paid employment. Abs Fensome spent four months on the Hampshire
Highways contract between May and August 2023, through a Supported Internship
placement. This development opportunity was organised by Milestone and Totton
College, following an introduction made by the Skills & Participation Team and
Hampshire County Council.
Nicolle Cloete, Depot Coordinator, was
able to give Abs9 insight into the technical
side of highways maintenance, whilst our
depot team maximised opportunities for
her to visit various highways sites during
the placement.
