Local Golfers Raise £1,111 for
Community Support Charity
A jam-packed charity Golf Compe??on at
Castle Eden and Peterlee Golf Club has
raised over a thousand pounds for a local
charity. Organised by golf club members
and East Durham residents David and
Hilary Mackenzie the fundraiser saw over
70 local golfers take part in a charity
compe??on alongside a host of other
ac?vi?es including a prize rae. Local
businesses sponsored prizes for the
event including Morrison’s at Dalton
Park, Wynyard Hall Golf Club, Maximos
restaurant and many more.

food crisis support, informaTon, advice
and guidance, employability support,
mental health and wellbeing acTviTes,
telephone befriending and arts
engagement. The organisaTon and its
work has been vital in connecTng people
to vital services. During the pandemic the
charity carried out 800 shopping trips for
people who were socially isolaTng,
supported 1,500 local people with
Graham Easterlow, Chief Exec of East
Durham Trust said “We are absolutely
blown away by the generosity of all those
who took part and who gave so kindly. We
would like to thank Castle Eden Golf Club
for hosTng such an special event and a
huge thank you to David and Hilary for
their e6orts and energy on behalf of the
people of East Durham”
Founded in 2007 East Durham Trust works
to improve the quality of life for people
living in East Durham and works with a

beneIts and debt advice, delivered 3,800
packed lunches to children while schools
were closed, made over 17,000 telephone
calls to isolated people and engaged over
30,000 people with the arts through the
East Durham Creates project.
As we move through the road map out of
restricTons and into recovery, the support
the Trust provides to the community is
needed more than ever. This generous
donaTon will help the conTnuaTon the
charity conTnue its essenTal services for
those in need.
East Durham Trust relies on volunteers to
support and deliver its vital projects and
services and is on the lookout for
dynamic, friendly and enthusiasTc new
volunteers to join their team. If you are
