Paul Kyle Gallery deals in contemporary and historical fine artworks, offering a highly curated selection from
the primary and secondary markets, both Canadian and international. The gallery had previously operated
under the name Elan Fine Art, a nod to the works of Paul Kyle’s father Joseph, at its current location in
Vancouver’s False Creek Flats. Recently, at the suggestion of a close friend and accompanied by a chorus of
echoes from the gallery’s artists, the decision was made to change the name to Paul Kyle Gallery.
The former name “Elan” inspired curiosity from many and means “with vigorous spirit or enthusiasm”.
While the name may have changed, the eponymous owner still brings his own vigorous enthusiasm, spirit,
and encyclopedic knowledge of art to the gallery.
For close to five decades, Paul Kyle has brought his unwavering enthusiasm for art to the pacific northwest.
Having been introduced to art at a young age by his father Joseph, he worked as a director for Open Space
in Victoria before opening Kyle’s Gallery in 1975, a space he would operate for nearly a decade. Here he
brought attention to Canadian artists by showing their works alongside European masters such as Matisse,
Renoir, Picasso, Rodin, and others. Paul Kyle has continued this trend with his current space where you are
likely to cross paths with a Willem de Kooning or Sol LeWitt while exploring the gallery’s exhibitions.
Paul Kyle’s current roster of artists is well established in Canada and internationally. The gallery represents
over twenty artists in the primary market including Barbara Astman, Thom Mayne, Daniel Mullen, Robert
Murray, James O’Mara, Tony Robins, Tony Scherman, David Spriggs, Charlotte Wall, and more. In addition
to its represented artists, Paul Kyle Gallery deals in contemporary and 20th century historical artworks in
the secondary market. Present works available include those by Jack Shadbolt, Ansel Adams, Robert Kelly,
Jim Hart, Jeff Wall, Guido Molinari, Gordon Smith, and more.
Paul Kyle Gallery is known in the community for its friendly and knowledgeable team. The gallery is not
only a space for showcasing great works of art, but a space for experiences and learning, and for
developing one’s relationship with art. All visitors are made to feel welcome, please visit
