WELCOME TO
THE GAMES
In its forty-six-year journey,
the British Transplant
Games, for the very first time
has landed in Nottingham,
a major and highly regarded
transplant centre.
We thank all those who over the years
have enabled this event to become a reality,
and particularly mention the Nottingham
University Hospital Charity and NHS Trust
respectively, who drove the bid to bring
the Games to Nottingham and the
East Midlands region.
With 2,650 registered participants,
of which 1,000 are transplanted athletes,
it is wonderful to see that the commitment
to the Games is at its highest ever, and that
circa 20% of those entering are new to the
Games. Clearly, Nottingham and its many
superb landmarks, such as the Castle,
its two Universities and many sporting
facilities, have proven to be a very
popular location for our Games.
