MEN SUFFER TOO - DOMESTIC ABUSE TOWARDS MEN
Finally the government is also
attempting to take male abuse
seriously. The Home Office
funds a men’s advice line
which is a confidential helpline
for men suffering from
domestic abuse. Family and
friends can also use and
phone on behalf of the person
being abused or get advice to
possibly help their loved one.
The government has also
introduced a bill that defines
for the first time what
domestic abuse is.
Yes, finally society,
authorities, and more
importantly government from
approximately 2019, accepted
that men get abused mentally,
sexually, physically,
economically and emotionally.
They are finally stepping up
and trying to encourage men
to come forward and free
themselves from a toxic
relationship and seek help.
Whilst it’s slow progress, it is
progress at least.
The more that come forward,
telling their stories, this will
aid the journey for more
thereafter. Anything in life can
be changed if we talk and
bring it forward. I understand
like many, that it’s a hard
conversation due to fear and
embarrassment but to free
yourself from the pain and
shackles knowing you are not
alone, and not judged is a step
in the path to freedom you
long for?
It is time to raise awareness
around the fact that, yes, Men
suffer abuse and violence in
domestic relationships, and
they need the support and help
they deserve. Most men simply
still believe in the old
fashioned belief that they
should be able to protect
themselves and stand up for
themselves, yet this couldn’t
be further from the truth. It’s
time to stop ignoring men in
abusive or violent
relationships. It’s time to start
reaching out and helping them.
Having studied a degree in
Criminology and Psychology I
wanted to better understand
why people do what they do. Is
it circumstantial or choice?
One thing certain is we all do
have a choice in how we treat
another human. We chose to
allow in that moment how we
proceed. Words and actions
both have power, but most
importantly we are fully
accountable of every word and
every action we put out.
Have you suffered from
domestic abuse or domestic
violence as a man? I would
really love to hear from you as I
feel there is a need to step up
in an attempt to change how
this is seen in the public
domain and through the law
and judicial system. Not only to
speak up but to work on the
healing of traumas imposed
through the subjection of
Domestic Abuse and or,
Domestic Violence.
Being a man who has been
subjected personally to many
traumas since childhood
(which will be shared within my
book whenever it aligns to put
out in the public domain) and
as man who is certified as a
Spiritual Life Coach, Mindset
Coach, Reiki Master Teacher,
Shamanic Healer and Medium I
have worked for many years
offering aid, guidance and
healing in Corporate working
environments, along with one
to one individuals.
My own personal path and
experiences have allowed me
to act more as a beacon of
light, to hold another persons
hand and guide them on their
journey through the trauma
they have lived or are living.
My aim now is to create an
environment online where
men can come, share, hold
space in the surroundings of
others who have endured or
witnessed such trauma and
abuse.
To feel they can speak their
truths without judgement.
Then as a collective to be
able to express, share and
attempt to impose a revision
of the laws and delicacy
around how many men are
treated as a victim of
Domestic Violence and
Domestic Abuse. To be
taken seriously and have the
same process and rights of
that of others.
For now please know that
you’re not alone. We hear
you. We feel you. We hold
you.
Please reach out anytime.
