What helmet is suitable for use in
a terminal?
Have a question for the
Hazchem Expert Team?
The critical requirement for Oil-Terminal
spec. helmets is adequate eye protection, to
prevent splash to the eyes and the provision
for ear-defenders to be attached. The Iris 2
helmet (HF0510) with integral safety glasses
have a clever linkage which enable optimal
adjustment thus eliminating the risk of splash
to the eyes. It is worth noting that other
helmets with integral eyewear are not
permitted at terminals owing to the
lack of adjustment.

What is the difference between lined
and unlined green gauntlet gloves?
‘Lined’ gloves have a soft flocked-cotton
lining to the inside of the gauntlet giving
warmth and feeling softer to the skin. The
‘unlined’ gloves do actually have a smooth
interlocked liner with the benefit of not
shedding any cotton ‘fluff’ and being less
prone to holding any dirt. Both styles are
treated with acti-fresh, reducing bacterial
build-up and odours. Use whichever you find
most comfortable!

How long should my green
gauntlets last?
The Haztec Green Gauntlets are the driver
gloves of choice for our customers. We would
normally expect these to last between 2 and
4 days for a driver, depending on number of
drops. If you want to look at longer-lasting
gloves please get in touch with Marlon or
Brian on 01280 841400 who will be happy to
discuss some options with you.
Is a 1-piece coverall safer than
2-piece jacket and trousers?
When a Jacket and Trouser is worn in
combination with each other, the levels of
protection are generally the same as a
Coverall. Some sites specify that a Coverall
should be worn, quite simply because if a
Jacket was provided it could be removed and
result in the wearer being unprotected. Many
wearers in the Fuel Distribtion industry prefer
the Jacket/Trouser combination as it lends
itself better to drivers who are in and out of
their cabs during their working day.

What is anti-static footwear?
Anti-static footwear should be worn in areas
where build up of static electricity could be
dangerous. It works by dissipating any static
charge, safely ‘earthing’ it through the sole
unit via semi-conductive materials. Footwear
certified as ESD is best as it has an electrical
resistance of less than 35 Ohms, meaning
electrical charges cannot build up and so
removing the likelihood of a static spark.
