Grand Bahama comes alive in the Summer! Here are a
few events that you can look forward to in the
upcoming months.
Pelican Point Coconut Festival - April 1 - Held every
Easter Monday, the coconut festival is a uniquely
Bahamian celebration with a coconutty twist. Each
year the festival attracts hundreds to the eastern end
to enjoy edible coconut creations, coconut jewelry
and entertainment.
Freetown Fire Hearth Food & Heritage Festival May 20 - Cultural festival highlighting the heritage of
Grand Bahama’s first black settlement.
Grand Bahama Dive Week - May 11-18 - The annual
Grand Bahama Dive Week is held with signature
partners who are committed to generating dive
packages, accommodations and activities that will
appeal to a diverse group throughout the United
States and North America. This dive week caters to
dive enthusiasts as well as non-divers.
Battle Ground Bahamas Fishing Tournament - June
13-15
- A two-day yellowfin fishing tournament
providing a fun, family-friendly atmosphere for the
whole community, and promoting safe boating
practices while bringing back the excitement of a
tournament to the island. This event will also serve as
a platform to spread awareness of current ecological
concerns throughout the islands.
Goombay Summer Festival - Every Thursday in July
The annual Goombay Summer Festival is held every
Thursday in July. This festival showcases cultural
elements such as Junkanoo rush-outs, rake and
scrape, quadrille dancing, and authentic cuisine and
crafts.
Grand Bahama Island Restaurant Fest - August Grand Bahama Island beckons culinary enthusiasts
and conservation advocates alike to its shores this
summer for the 3rd Annual GBI Restaurant Fest. This
year’s event has some new additions that will
seamlessly blend luxury, innovation, and sustainability
with the vibrant tapestry of Bahamian culture.
