The opening of the Western Air terminal in late
2023 marks a significant milestone in the airline's
journey
of
growth
and
advancement.
Spearheading this transformative period is Rexy
Rolle, the recently appointed President and CEO,
whose leadership has ushered in a new era for
the company. Founded as a family-owned
business in 2000, Western Air has risen to
become the second-largest airline in The
Bahamas, connecting Grand Bahama to New
Providence, other Bahamian islands, and Florida.
The new terminal, which functions as a fully
functioning airport, is designed to cater to the
needs of both domestic and international
travelers. Serving as the primary hub for all
incoming flights, the terminal boasts state-ofthe-art amenities, including a full-service bar,
comfortable waiting area, and dedicated kids'
play area. Whether arriving for business or
pleasure, passengers can expect a seamless and
enjoyable experience from the moment they step
foot in the terminal.
Situated alongside Grand Bahama International
Airport's domestic and international terminals,
the Western Air terminal forms an essential part
of the island's transportation network. From the
bustling Freeport Harbour to the charming
marinas scattered throughout the island, Grand
Bahama offers a plethora of entry points for
visitors. Whether arriving by commercial or private
plane, ferry, cruise ship, or private boat, travelers
have a myriad of options at their disposal.
Beyond its role in facilitating travel, Western Air
serves as a gateway for travelers to immerse
themselves in the unique charm and beauty of
Grand Bahama. From the breathtaking beaches
and stunning cave systems of Lucayan National
Park and charming coastal settlements to the
authentic Wednesday night Smith’s Point Fish Fry
(the oldest in the Bahamas) to just about any
boating or water sport imaginable - there's
something for everyone to discover and enjoy.
