ITB Berlin attracts a large and diverse audience of industry
professionals, media representatives, and consumers. By
exhibiting and attending the event, the Grand Life was able
to share the wonder and beauty of Grand Bahama with
audiences around the entire world.
The connections made at events like ITB Berlin can be
invaluable for the advancement of any destination, and
providing a German translation of the Grand Life will afford
European Bahamian tourism representatives with additional
resources to connect with travelers in their market.
According to Latia Duncombe, Director General of The
Bahamas Ministry of Tourism, Investments & Aviation, “Name
recognition for The Bahamas continues to be strong. Our
recent discussions with key decision makers at the
International Tourism Exchange in Berlin, indicated that The
Bahamas is the prime destination for Europeans. Having a
German edition of the Grand Life Magazine will allow us
another reach into the European market. This magazine
features authentic stories of Grand Bahama Island and will
provide European readers an in depth look into the
memorable experiences that await them in Grand Bahama
and by extension The Bahamas. I am optimistic that the
publication will drive new business to all of our 16 unique
island destinations.”
Anthony Stuart, Senior Director of Emerging Markets for the
Bahamas Tourist Office in London, added that in order to
build authentic connections with international audiences, it is
vital to listen and communicate on their terms. “We needed to
be [at ITB Berlin] and listen to what our tour operators say,
what their clients are looking for in the market, what they
want to experience. It's important to listen and then it's
important to understand and then it's important to plan and
then execute. If you're not listening to your customer, then
how do you know what to give them?”
Director Stuart also added that it is important to raise
awareness about the beauty of the entire Bahamas, and help
visitors unfamiliar with the country’s geography to find the
island that is best suited for their interests. “[The Grand Life
Magazine International Editions] provides a glimpse into
Grand Bahama, what there is to do on Grand Bahama, and
why they should visit Grand Bahama. That personal touch is
important.”
In addition to being available in English and German, the
Grand Life Magazine was recently released in Spanish.
