Can you give some examples of the types of compliance
issues our members are facing:
As well as the legislation I9ve mentioned previously, for those companies
trading in Europe, the fragmentation of the EU has led to the EU SUP
Directive being interpreted in many differing ways in different member
states. But there is also a lack of uniformity in the UK, with a potential
levy in Scotland on paper cups and, different regulations in Wales, it can
make trading very difficult.
And coming over the hill, we've got the Packaging and Packaging
Waste Regulations in Europe and the Deforestation Regulations to
contend with. What impact will that have on the UK? We have a new
government and we don9t yet know whether they will be looking to
Brussels for leadership on environmental issues or forging their own
path.
