PROTEIN
Protein-based foods
These foods
contain amino
acids, which
are the building
blocks of
our body.
Amino acids make our
cells, our muscles and
our enzymes that help us
digest food. Foods high in
protein also contain iron
(for healthy red-blood cells
and energy levels), zinc
(for healing, but also our
immune system) and can
provide B12 (for healthy
nerves, blood cells and
energy levels). Each meal
should contain a proteinbased food and people
typically need 2-3 servings
a day, although if you are
vegetarian or vegan then
you may need more.
