SUGAR, FAT & ALCOHOL
Sugar, fat & alcohol
For most people,
high sugar options
like cakes, biscuits,
ice cream etc.
should be had
in moderation
and ideally not
every day.
Choosing lower sugar breakfast
cereals and avoiding adding sugar
to foods and drinks is advised.
It is recommended that high fat
options like crisps, fried foods
and takeaways are consumed
infrequently; they are high in
calories but often low in actual
nutrition (micronutrients) and

contribute to weight gain. When
someone has a smaller than normal
appetite, or is trying to gain weight,
then these foods can be helpful to
add extra calories in an enjoyable
way. If in doubt, speak with your
Doctor or Registered Dietitian.
