MJD at Beckford’s Tower
MJD were responsible for all the mechanical works
involved in the restoration and conservation of
Beckford Tower, including:
- Design
- Heating
- Air Source Heat Pumps
- Drainage
- Domestic Hot & Cold Water
- Plant
- Ventilation
- BMS
- Insulation
Working alongside Emery Building Contractors we
were able to provide an eco-friendly system using
cascading air source heat pumps which provide heat
for 4-Zones within the building - tower, basement,
museum 1 and museum 2.
The staircase is heated via a fan-assisted heat battery
which rises through the tower, we installed Jaga LST fan
assisted radiators throughout the museum and basement.
The BMS works alongside a Hanwell environmental
monitoring & controls system to ensure the museum is
maintaining optimum temperature and humidity to keep
the artefacts in the museum protected.
It’s been a pleasure to work alongside Emery Building
Contractors on such a historic building.
