Aims of the Project and Purpose of the
Meeting
Josh Fothergill (Research Lead) set out the
aims of the Digital ESIA Research project and
the purpose of the meeting, with input from
Project Director Etia Ndarake.
Aims of Digital ESIA Research project
- Establish a snapshot of the uptake and current
state of digital technologies and approaches
within Environmental and Social Impact
Assessment (ESIA) in Nigeria with Federal
Ministry, consultancy sector (with private
developers), and additional parties that have
relevant established systems.
- Define the aims and ambitions of the Federal
Ministry of Environment in relation to digital EIA
systems and approaches.
- Develop recommendations for next steps as
to how the Nigerian EIA / ESIA system could
further embrace digital technologies and
approaches to help deliver more effective and
efficient practice.
- Identify potential routes for progress and
next step activities to be explored following
completion of this snapshot research review.
