Drawing in the
landscape
I find it essential to draw, paint and
physically experience the landscape in
order to form thoughts first hand which
can be developed and reinforced later by
reading what others have written. These
concepts, possibly already described in
detail by others, become precious when
they are discovered first hand. Many of
my paintings are abstracted as they are
about the concept rather than the site.
But there often comes a point when the
abstraction is too great and the link to
the landscape is broken.
