Corporate Health and Safety
The Corporate Health and Safety Team has developed corporate policies in relation to
the control of legionella, asbestos, hand arm vibration syndrome and noise.
Routine occupational health surveillance is in place for employees who are exposed to
health risks such as working with asbestos, silica dust and powered hand tools.
Mental health and work-related stress are a key priority for the Council. The Corporate
Health and Safety Team promotes the managers9 stress management toolkit and the
team stress assessments. These are proactive measures to identify and then modify
working practices at an organisational level to reduce the likelihood of people sufering
from work related stress. HR leads on the work with individuals who are identioed as
sufering from work related stress symptoms.
The Corporate Health and Safety Team has worked to ensure that individuals have
appropriate workstations when working from home. There has been an increase in
homeworking following the COVID-19 pandemic. They have remotely carried out
detailed display screen equipment assessments.
