3.3 Other Service Demands
Food and Health & Safety
The Food and Safety Team handles various applications which are submitted via East
Sufolk Council9s online application process.
Applications are received for:

the registration of premises and personnel for the purpose of skin piercing and
tattooing, which must be conducted hygienically.
for the provision of live shellosh registration documents, these are an important link
in a chain of public health control measures, designed to ensure that shellosh placed
on the market are safe to eat. It is essential that the origin of the shellosh is known,
and that this traceability is maintained from harvesting to onal sale.

to issue export health certiocates or food safety premises endorsement, these
allowlocal businesses to export their food products.
"
to approve manufacturers handling products of animal origin.
"
the issuing of ship sanitation control exemption certiocates or ship sanitation control
certiocates.
Notiocations of the planned, licenced and non-licenced removal of asbestos from certain
premises are received via the HSE9s Extranet online service. This website allows the
sharing of information across individuals and organisations involved in regulating health
and safety in the UK.
From 1 April 2024 the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) has resumed the pre-covid
enhanced monitoring of certain infectious diseases (IDs). This may create additional
demands on the service.
The Food Standards Agency (FSA) carried out an audit on shellosh traceability within the
East Sufolk area in June 2024.
The expected other service demands are shown in appendix 6.
