Founded in 1972, International Hospitals Group is a global
leader in end-to-end physical and mental healthcare service
solutions, providing expert healthcare consultancy, turnkey
hospital design as well as construction and operation of 昀椀rstclass healthcare facilities around the world. With a track record
of proven success in creating end-to-end solutions, IHG has
delivered in excess of 480 healthcare projects in 55 countries
for both public and private sector clients, with a total combined
project value of £3.5bn. IHG’s clients include a range of national
governments, international 昀椀nancial institutions, and hospital
trusts such as the United Nations, the World Bank, the NHS, and
the International Finance Corporation.
FOUNDATION
IHG was initially formed as a private/public partnership with a UK state
owned enterprise and is now a fully private family owned company.
IHG’s first healthcare project was for the Presidential Court of Abu
Dhabi, which needed support to establish Abu Dhabi’s National Health
Service. IHG successfully assisted in this major project by providing
around 70 healthcare experts for eight years until completion.
KEYI HOSPITAL OPENING IN 2024
In 1980, the Government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and
the Saudi Arabian National Guard (SANG) wanted to appoint,
under a KSA/UK government-to-government contract, an
international healthcare company to equip, manage, recruit and
train staff, transfer technology and to manage and maintain its large
Healthcare Campus in Jeddah, (now known as the King Abdulaziz
Medical City), which included the brand new 500 bed King Khalid
National Guard Hospital (KKH) that was officially opened by
HRH The Prince of Wales.

IHG was appointed to recruit and manage the 2,000 staff at the
hospital. IHG also provided staff with education and training. After
KKH was successfully commissioned and opened by IHG, under IHG’s
ongoing operational management, it was announced that the KKH
would be open to all Saudi citizens. IHG’s involvement in providing a
high level of patient care at KKH continued until 1993. IHG received
various letters of acknowledgement and accolades for its high and
consistent quality of care and management.
GLOBAL SUCCESS
From its foundation, IHG has enjoyed steady growth providing its
services in 55 countries. IHG has provided healthcare consultancy,
hospital design and construction, commissioning, medical planning
and equipping, project management, turnkey design and construction,
operation and management of hospitals and healthcare facilities and
related healthcare services to 24 governments, as well as to private
institutions and multi-national agencies including the World Bank and
United Nations.

In the UK, IHG developed its healthcare services by working
with more than 105 NHS Health Care Authorities and NHS Trusts,
and also provided recruitment services with around 15,000 staff
being recruited for the NHS. IHG has a number of unique strategic
partnerships boosting links and helping global clients benefit from
the NHS’s skills, knowledge, higher training and education.
