RIBA Job Book
Foreword
Throughout its 50-year history the RIBA Job Book has been based on the RIBA Plan
of Work. The changes it has gone through over that time are a reflection of the
evolution of the project process and the various forms of building procurement.
This edition reflects the most fundamental change to date; one that embraces
the current themes of collaboration within project teams, aligned to advances
in information technology, and the continued importance of environmental
sustainability.
While it has changed in quite significant ways, the RIBA Plan of Work 2013 still
provides stage-by-stage guidance to assist the architect and other members of
the project team in managing the building design and procurement process from
inception to completion. Indeed, it now adds further advice for work before the
project has commenced and after it has been completed.
Set out in a clear, easy-to-use format, this ninth edition provides comprehensive
information on the administration of an architectural project, with good practice
guidance, action checklists and stage outputs. It is equally applicable to all forms
of procurement and to all sizes of project and as such it will provide an accessible
and vital resource for all practising architects, as well as students preparing for
practice.
