Brief
The brief for Soft Landings and POE activities must be agreed at
an early stage in the project, ideally at Stage 1.

Appointment
6.5.3.1
Establish scope, content and context for Stage 6.
Put this information into context, particularly if previous stages were
undertaken by others. If possible establish whether material produced
now is likely to be acted upon by others taking over the subsequent stage.
6.5.3.2 If coming new to the project at this stage in the Plan of Work:
• ascertain that the relevant earlier stage checks have been
carried out
Allow for familiarisation and reviewing of all usable material when
agreeing fees and timetable with the client.
• confirm the role of the architect in relation to the rest of the
design team
• ensure that you have adequate PI insurance cover.
6.5.3.3 Check the client’s written instruction to proceed.
6.5.3.4 Check that the client has settled all accounts submitted to date.
6.5.3.5 Check appointing documents with respect to services and fees.
• if the services, cost or time targets are different from those
agreed with the client, agree a formal variation by letter or
deed, as appropriate
• if the extent of professional services for Stage 6 is not yet
settled, agree with the client and confirm in writing.
