The planning meeting
If appropriate, attend critical meetings with the client’s representative. Keep a
written note of what is discussed. If planning permission is refused and an appeal
is contemplated, send your account of proceedings to the chief executive of the
authority. If not dissented from, your account may have the status of ‘agreed
notes’. Examine the agenda and record of the meeting; these may constitute
the basis for an appeal.
F or more detailed advice on the planning process refer to the RIBA Good Practice
Guide Negotiating the Planning Maze (2009).
