3.5.3.2 If coming new to the project at this stage in the Plan of Work:
• ascertain that relevant Concept Design stage and earlier stage
checks have been carried out
• allow for familiarisation and reviewing of all usable material
when agreeing fees and timetable with the client
• confirm the role of the architect in relation to the rest of the
design team
• ensure that you have adequate professional indemnity
(PI) insurance cover in accordance with ARB and RIBA
requirements.
3.5.3.3 Check that the client’s instruction to proceed has been given and
confirmed in writing.
3.5.3.4 Check that the client has settled all accounts submitted to date.
3.5.3.5 Check appointing documents with respect to services and fees.
• If the extent of professional services for Stage 3 is not yet
settled, agree with the client and confirm in writing.
• If the methods and levels of charging for Stage 3 are not yet
settled, agree with the client and confirm in writing.
3.5.3.6 Assess the office resources needed for Stage 3 and ensure that
they are available and adequate.
3.5.3.7 Carry out checks for compliance with in-house quality
management procedures, including the updated Project
Execution Plan.
3.5.3.8 Review the application of practice procedures to the project.

Check whether the client has confirmed in writing acceptance of
the Concept Design submitted at Stage 2. Establish points to be
discussed and developed during Stage 3.
