1/SM6: Project Execution Plan
A Project Execution Plan should be created. The plan might contain the following
information:
Project description
• the client’s design requirements
• a synopsis of brief and priorities
• an intended lifespan of building overall and of components
• constraints which arise from legislation or other sources.
Project organisation
• the identity of the client and representatives
• agreed procedures for consultations/approvals
• project team members and their defined responsibilities and contact details
(this can be set out as a Contractual Tree)
• the Design Responsibility Matrix
• project timetable/programmes
• management, procedures for administration, including coordination.
Control procedures
• Information Exchanges
• Project Programme
• Communication Strategy
• brief development control and reviews
• design input control, design management and development, and patterns
of design review
• design and information output control
• project specification basis and development
• project administration and document control procedures
• procurement, and procedures for appointment of the project construction
team
• contract administration procedures
• monitoring of contractors’ quality management
• CAD/BIM protocols (if appropriate)
• sustainability targets.
Change control
• agreed procedures for modifications or changes to approved brief
• agreed procedures for modifications or changes to approved designs
• records of modifications or changes
• identification of documents subjected to revision, and withdrawal to prevent
unintended use.
