During the 2022/23 academic year, improvements
to the curriculum have continued at pace to
provide even greater 昀氀exibility and impact.
There has been an ever-increasing emphasis on
co-designing study and career pathways with
employers, including greater business and industry
engagement in T Levels and the embedding of
digital skills in learning.

advice on CV and interview techniques
Character education is also a hallmark of DCG’s
approach. The need to engender the right
behaviours and attitudes sits at the heart of the
curriculum, rather than as an add-on or enrichment
activity.
HIGH-QUALITY SUPPORT
A strong student support strategy underpins
every aspect of the DCG curriculum. A new
Personal Development for Study programme
provides workshops and seminars to deepen
students’ wider skills and knowledge.
It incorporates the Skills Builder process
for instilling abilities in listening, speaking,
problem-solving, creativity, staying positive,
aiming higher, leadership and teamwork. DCG
achieved the Essential Skills Bronze Award for its
endeavours in this 昀椀eld.
Burgeoning partnerships with third sector
organisations have also given students greater
exposure to a more diverse range of employment
opportunities.
At the same time, DCG has redoubled its efforts to
help upskill the adult workforce by reducing barriers
to employment and progression for disadvantaged
groups and building quality careers guidance for
those at all levels and ages.
FOUNDATIONS FOR SUCCESS

The support on offer was also recognised
with various kitemarks, including the Quality
Standard Accreditation for Pastoral Support and
Wellbeing from the Further Education Tutorial
Network. A year-long project to improve the
DCG experience for students identi昀椀ed as young
carers also resulted in quality accreditation
from the Carers Federation.
