DCG Impact Review 2024 - Flipbook - Page 13
THIRTEEN | STRATEGIC PRIORITY ONE
The matrix standard endorses the tireless efforts
of DCG’s Student Services on behalf of learners.
Over the years, the team has helped thousands of
individuals of all ages and circumstances transform
their ambitions into reality.
The academic year 2022/23 was no exception.
Thanks to a strong set of summer exam results,
a large proportion of students taking Level 3
academic, vocational and technical quali昀椀cations
proceeded to their 昀椀rst-choice university or into
employment.
A-level results day saw 22 subjects achieve a 100%
pass rate. These attainments were particularly
noteworthy in a year when the support measures
and adjustments brought in during the pandemic
were removed. When compared with the 2019
results, the A*-A grades increased by 91%, while A*-B
grades increased by 27% and A*-C grades by 14%.
Alongside the students’ own diligence and
resilience, this success story can also be attributed
to the wide range of practical and emotional
support on offer at DCG to ensure that young
people are exam-ready.
The impressive results achieved right across the
College were the cue for multiple celebrations.
Almost 30 end-of-year events, more than ever
before, were staged to mark these landmark
moments with the presentation of special awards
and exhibitions of student work.
To help plot their next move, DCG’s graduating
students can draw not only on DCG’s in昀氀uential
partnerships with employers and universities but
also on a vibrant network of positive role models.
The Group now has almost 3,000 active alumni on
its books who have volunteered to ‘give something
back’ by providing inspirational stories about
their own career experiences. Some go on to
assist current students through guest lectures,
professional mentoring and work shadowing
opportunities.
This is a fantastic achievement for DCG
and I would like to congratulate the
team on their success. We believe that
at the heart of high-quality advice and
support are strong leadership,
excellent service and a focus on
continuous improvement, all
underpinned by effective use of
the resources available.”

DUO HIT THE HIGH NOTES
Two students on the same Music course were
in perfect tune – with places to study music
at the world-renowned Liverpool Institute for
Performing Arts (LIPA). Owen Doherty and
Declan Dean were good friends throughout their
time at school and College – and both achieved
Distinctions at DCG. They play in a band
together and share songwriting duties.
Going to LIPA represents
a huge achievement
for the two talented
18-year-olds. Famously
co-founded by former
Beatle Paul McCartney
on the site of his old
school, it attracts more
than 3,000 applications
a year for just 250
places.
