About the Author
Annabel Smith is an award-winning freelance Beer Sommelier,
educator, writer, and broadcaster. She is the founder of BeerBelle, a
company specialising in designing and delivering training solutions
for trade and consumers about the beer category. She is also Head of
Training at The Cask Marque Trust.
With over 30 years’ experience in the beer industry including senior
roles at Whitbread and Diageo, she developed the pioneering Every
Serve Perfect training programme which reached over 35,000
hospitality sector individuals worldwide.
She is a former winner of the Imbibe Educator of the Year and a
recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award from the All-Party
Parliamentary Beer Group for services to the beer industry. She was
also nominated to join the board of the British Guild of Beer Writers
as a director, in which capacity she served a three-year term.
She is one of the founder members of Dea Latis, an organisation
which researches women’s attitudes and behaviours towards beer and
is the co-author of two highly acclaimed reports, The Gender Pint
Gap and The Beer Agender.
She is passionate about promoting equity within the beer sector and
raising the level of female representation within the beer community.
