Beyond food aid
In addition to tackling the immediate need created by
food insecurity, the Foundation invests in projects which
go beyond food aid and tackle the root causes of food
insecurity and poverty, in this way creating a more
sustainable and durable impact on the communities
where it operates.
Some of the supported organisations and projects
include:
Enactus UK, a youth action and social enterprise
charity establishing a national network of sociallyminded entrepreneurs who help the charity to develop
innovative solutions addressing food insecurity and
women’s empowerment issues in the UK.
A Lust for Life in Ireland, which has rolled out a
nationwide mental health programme for schools,
to help reduce individual su昀昀ering. In Ireland there is
high incidence of people su昀昀ering su昀昀ering from poor
mental health, which is one of many root causes of
falling out of paid employment and into food insecurity.
The Bread and Butter Thing, a regional charity, is
supported by Stop Hunger to equip women with tools
for positive change through con昀椀dential counselling and
goal setting, leading to increased income and a better
future for their families and communities.
Trussell Trust, a national charity, is supported by Stop
Hunger to meet people in crisis at their moment of
greatest need. This programme supports bene昀椀ciaries
to secure on average £600 of additional income.
In 2023, our annual Stop Hunger Foundation event returned for the 昀椀rst time since the pandemic
and raised over £144,000.
